Reference 116509-0055 is the white gold Daytona with a black gem-set dial. On our photos eight set stones take the place of the usual batons. The counters are black with silver-tone rings, so the stones are the only bright points on the face.

White gold tone, steel underneath

Case and bracelet are 904L steel finished in a white gold tone, with a metal bezel engraved with the tachymeter scale. That makes it easy to wear with a suit or a T-shirt. The crystal is sapphire, and 30 m means rain is fine but the pool is not. If you prefer plain batons in the same case, look at the 116509-0072 with a silver dial; on rubber with a ceramic bezel, the same kind of dial is the 116519LN-0025.

Movement

Pick the Japanese Miyota-based chronograph or the Swiss version that follows the 4130. In both, the chronograph starts, stops and resets from the pushers, with minutes at 3, running seconds at 6 and hours at 9. How is the 116509-0055 different from the 116509-0072?

The dial. This 0055 is black with eight gem-set markers; the 0072 is silver-grey with black counters and plain batons. Case, bezel and bracelet are the same white gold tone.
