White dial, white counters

Reference 116508-0001 is the yellow gold Daytona with a plain white dial. On our photos the three counters are white as well, so the only colour on the face comes from their gold-tone rims, the gold-tone markers and the small red DAYTONA line above the lower counter. From a few steps away the dial reads almost entirely white, which is why this version looks calmer than the black 116508-0004 in the same case.

Gold plating from bezel to clasp

Everything metal here is yellow gold-plated 904L steel: the 40 mm case, the bezel with its engraved tachymeter scale, the pushers and the Oyster bracelet with its folding clasp. The crystal is sapphire with an anti-reflective coating. It is rated 30 m, so rain and hand washing are fine, while the pool is not.

Counters and the two movements

The 30-minute counter sits at 3 o’clock, the running seconds at 6 and the 12-hour counter at 9, and the chronograph starts, stops and resets with either movement. The Japanese version is a Miyota-based automatic chronograph at 21,600 vph with about 40 hours of reserve. The Swiss version follows the 4130 chronograph and beats at 28,800 vph. Are the counters on this 116508-0001 black or white?

White. On the photos all three counters match the white dial and are outlined with gold-tone rings. If you want dark counters in the same gold case, the 116508-0014 pairs a champagne dial with black counters.
