A red-veined dial on rose gold plating
The Eisenkiesel pattern is a dark face on the rose-tone replica Rolex Day-Date 228235: a near-black ground broken by rust-red veins that run out from the centre. Baguette-cut stone markers sit at the hours and catch the same light as the veining. Because the pattern is irregular, the dial on your watch will differ from this one in detail. Calmer dials are in our Day-Date selection.
Rose gold plating over steel
Case and President bracelet are 904L steel under rose gold plating. The diameter is 40 mm, the bezel is fluted, the crown screws down and the crystal is sapphire with an anti-reflective layer. Weekday at 12, date at 3 under the magnifying lens. Bracelet links can be removed by any jeweller, and the plating asks for the same care as any polished surface: a soft cloth, no direct sun for long spells, and distance from magnets. Service every three to four years keeps it running.
Inside, and what plating means here
Pick Japanese for a Miyota-based automatic with about 40 hours of reserve and quickset date, easy for any watchmaker to service. Pick Swiss for a movement built to follow the original caliber, at 28,800 vph with about 70 hours. Case and bracelet are 904L steel; the rose colour is a plated layer, and our test of the Day-Date plating explains how that layer behaves with daily wear.
Calmer faces on the same reference
If the veining is too much, the white Roman 228235 keeps the rose case with a clean white Roman dial, and the chocolate sunburst 228235 is a plain brown sunburst with batons. All three share the 40 mm fluted case and President bracelet. Water: 30 m, rain-proof but not for the pool.
Will my Eisenkiesel dial look exactly like the photo?
The dark ground, the baguette stones and the layout will match. The red veins wander differently on every dial, and the 8 to 12 QC photos of your watch show its own pattern before dispatch.
