This is a straightforward time-and-date watch, so both movement tiers handle the functional requirements comfortably.

• Swiss Automatic — Built to follow the original caliber: 28,800 vph, approximately 70-hour power reserve, quickset date via crown, hacking seconds, Breguet overcoil hairspring. Proven architecture that Rolex used across the Submariner, Datejust, and Yacht-Master lines for over two decades.
• Japanese Automatic — Miyota-based with automatic winding, hacking seconds, and quickset date. Slightly lower beat rate and approximately 40-hour reserve, but exceptionally easy to service at any independent watchmaker — a practical advantage for a watch meant to see regular wrist time.

Both versions operate identically from the outside: automatic winding via the Perpetual rotor, date adjustment through the screw-down crown at the second position. The Swiss option tracks closer to the 3135’s timing specifications.
