Created to commemorate James Cameron’s solo descent to the Mariana Trench in 2012, the D-Blue dial has become the most visually distinctive Deepsea variant. The gradient transitions from electric blue at twelve o’clock to black at six, with “DEEPSEA” printed in bright green across the darkest zone — a color scheme that references the transition from surface light to abyssal darkness. The 126660 updates the earlier 116660 with Rolex’s Caliber 3235-generation movement architecture and improved Chronergy escapement.

The 126660 D-Blue Up Close: Case, Dial and Bracelet
The gradient dial is the centerpiece — a smooth transition from saturated blue to near-black that Rolex achieves through a proprietary PVD process. Green “DEEPSEA” text punches through the dark lower half, referencing Cameron’s expedition branding. Chromalight markers and hands ensure the dial remains legible even in zero-visibility conditions.
The 44mm Ringlock case matches the 116660 in architecture but benefits from refined lug geometry and a slightly more ergonomic profile. The Glidelock system on the Oyster bracelet provides 20mm of tool-free extension for dive-suit adjustment.

Movement Options: Swiss vs Japanese
Two caliber grades are offered for this D-Blue reference:
- Swiss Automatic — 28,800 vph with approximately 70-hour power reserve. Chronergy escapement and paramagnetic hairspring follow the genuine Caliber 3235 design for improved efficiency.
- Japanese Automatic (Miyota) — 21,600 vph with around 42-hour reserve. Proven daily reliability with globally accessible service networks and affordable maintenance.
Both movements include quickset date and hacking seconds.
