What this watch actually shows

The Land-Dweller 127334 is a time and date watch. Hours, minutes, a running seconds hand and a date window at three o’clock, and that is the whole display. If you have seen this reference described anywhere with a month aperture or a day of the week, that belongs to the Sky-Dweller, which is a different model with a different dial. The honeycomb dial

The dial is bright white with a honeycomb relief pressed into it, so the surface breaks light into small hexagons instead of returning a flat sheen. Applied baton markers sit at ten of the twelve positions, with an Arabic 9 at nine and a 6 at six, and the hands and markers carry the same white metal tone as the bezel. ROLEX, OYSTER PERPETUAL and LAND-DWELLER are printed across the upper half. Against that pattern the date at three still reads cleanly, because nothing on the dial competes with it.

Case, bezel and bracelet

40 mm across, 904L steel, with a fluted bezel in a white tone and a screw-down crown. The crystal is sapphire with an anti-reflective coating. The bracelet is the flat integrated type that runs straight out of the case with no exposed lugs, five narrow rows, polished centres against brushed outers, and any watchmaker or jeweller can take links out if the fit is off.
